“Mini Camp” is a “miniature” CISV camp experience, like a “mini” Village travel program. Typically held over a three day period, Mini Camp is open to current chapter members and those interested in CISV. Mini Camp activities are designed and lead by the members of the CISV youth group (the “Junior Branch”), providing an opportunity for the older youth participants to develop their leadership skills. Mini Camp is a perfect opportunity for youth who may not have an opportunity or desire to participate in a travel program to gain exposure to CISV values and skill building activities in a local setting. Mini Camps are also a great way to prepare children and potential leaders for an international CISV experience. Mini Camps follow program safety and staffing guidelines similar to all CISV programs. Adult CISV members staff and chaperone the camp, as well as provide meals for campers. Mini Camps can be held at the local, regional, or national level.
Mini Camps
What is a Mini Camp?
Who is the ideal Mini Camp participant?
An ideal Mini Camp participant is a youth who is cooperative in a group setting, interested in others, able to listen and share ideas, willing to participate in games and activities, and interested in CISV values and program activities.
Maine Mini Camp
Typically, CISV Maine holds its own local Mini Camp: “Maine Mini-Camp” (MMC). MMC is a weekend full of friends, fun, and lots of learning! MMC is open to all kids ages 9-17, plus adult leaders and chaperones. The theme of camp and its activities are organized and run by the Junior Branch board members.
New England Regional Mini Camp
New England Regional Mini Camp (NERMC) is hosted annual by one of the CISV chapters in the New England region on a rotating basis. CISV members, and those interested in CISV, from the New England CISV Region (Maine, Boston, Springfield, and New York Chapters) may participate. NERMC is just like a local Mini Camp, but with more kids! NERMC builds local and regional friendships among Chapters. Like a local Mini Camp, the theme of camp and its activities are organized and run by youth leaders – the current Local Junior Representative from each participating chapter.
National Mini Camp
Every Memorial Day weekend, Junior Branch USA hosts the National Mini Camp. This weekend brings together JBers from JB USA to participate in fun, educational activities that celebrate the CISV philosophy and provide an opportunity for youth to learn, grow, have fun, and build friendships. National Mini Camp is open to all JBers, age 11-25. Activities will be structured around our four educational content areas: sustainable development, diversity, conflict and resolution, and human rights.
Pre-camp information and registration will be posted as it becomes available.
